•Constitutional Status: CAG is a constitutional body established under Article 148 of the Constitution of India and is responsible to perform the audit and reporting functions of finances of the Union and State Governments.

 

•Functions : The major functions are like auditing government revenues, expenditures and accounts, examining government contracts and transactions.

 

•Independence and authority: The CAG is an independent body appointed by the President for a term of six years or up to age 65.
